Brownsburg, Indiana is located about ten minutes northwest of Indianapolis in Hendricks county. Ranked as the number one place to live in Indiana by CNN Money Magazine, Brownsburg was also ranked #33 in the nation. With over 21,285 people reported in the 2010 census, Brownsburg had an increase in population of over 68 percent since the 2000 census.
Found along White Lick Creek, Brownsburg, Indiana has been referred to as one of the best kept secrets in the Greater Indianapolis Metropolitan Area. Due to its proximity to Indianapolis, Brownsburg residents enjoy easy access to all of the amenities of a large city as well as the job opportunities of its larger economy. From its roots in the first one room log school house built back in 1828; the Brownsburg Community School Corporation has grown to include Brownsburg High School, two middles schools and six elementary schools. There are also two different private schools offering classes to cover PK-12. The system also has the Harris Academy. An alternative learning community serving Avon High School and Brownsburg High School. The system as a whole has also managed to maintain standardized testing scores that were more than ten percent above the state average for at least the past six years.
The community of Brownsburg carries its commitment to family into almost every facet of life. Most of the stores are actually locally owned and operated by individual families. Local activities are aimed for the family such as Arbuckle Acres Park and Lucas Oil Raceway Park. There are also a number of well know local restaurants. Everything from sushi to Mexican is available, but the So Italian restaurant is considered to have the best pizza on the west side of Indianapolis.
With the junction of US Highway 136 and Indiana 267, Brownsburg, Indiana is truly one of the crossroads of America.
